FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I register my members for the conference?

Simply submit your chapter’s membership and payment in the online membership system at deca.org/register by October 30*. On November 2, DECA will send all chapters with submitted and paid membership in the North Atlantic Region and Southern Region a link to the conference portal with instructions. Student members will use their member ID and a general password to enter the conference portal. There is no additional step to register them for the conference unless you want to upgrade the experience by adding a t-shirt order or competitive event participation (see below).

*We understand that some school districts are experiencing payment processing delays due to COVID-19. If payment does not reach us by October 30, the binding invoice generated through your membership submission will suffice as a guarantee of payment. Payments must be collected before participation will be allowed in future DECA activities.

How do I upgrade my members’ experience?

If you wish to purchase a conference long-sleeve t-shirt ($15 per shirt) or competitive event experience ($25 per member) before October 15, you will do so under the Conferences tab in the online membership system at deca.org/register.

Under the Conferences tab, choose 2020 Power Enhancements (T-Shirts & Competition).  Follow the instructions to order the number of shirts for each size and register your competitors. DECA will reach out to the chapter advisor after registration to request competitors’ names and provide more details for online testing and the case study competition. T-shirts will be mailed to the chapter advisor at the school address provided in the membership system. If you wish to request a different address, please e-mail conferences@deca.org by October 15. Sorry, shirts cannot be sent to multiple addresses.

What is the competitive events experience?

Members will have access to complete a 100-item business/marketing exam and complete one individual case study. This will take place during November 9-13.

For the exam, members will receive a diagnostic report showing their score as well as performance for each instructional area – a great tool for preparing for future exams. The exam will be administered online and will be “open book.” Participants will be given 60 minutes to complete the exam and online security precautions within the software will be in effect.

For the case study, members will participate in a Marketing Communications Series Event through a recorded video. Judges will review the videos after they are submitted. The Top 10% of performers in the exam and case study will be recognized on DECA Direct Online and with medallions that will be sent to the chapter.

What content will be on-demand and what content will be live?

Most content will be on-demand to provide DECA advisors and members the most flexibility. Advisors may wish to make it part of the week’s classroom instruction, chapters may host a viewing party if allowed by the school district with social distancing measures or chapters may host a virtual viewing party.

Live content will include the Association Officer Workshops, Connect Networking Sessions and Executive Mentor Program.
