What is the SBP and why participate?

The Partnership

A State Business Partnership (SBP) is a task force of businesspeople and Marketing Education/DECA representatives partnering to enhance Marketing Education/DECA. The State Business Partnerships offer unlimited opportunities to affect the education of thousands of Marketing Education/DECA students-your future employees. Creating well-prepared employees is possible when businesspeople identify the skills students need to be successful on the job, and take an active role in training and evaluating those students.

This training can be accomplished by

providing internships in your business
serving as a competitive events judge at DECA's Career Development Conferences
sharing real world business experiences with students as a workshop facilitator or classroom speaker
providing enhanced work experiences to student employees who have mastered skill standards

Students' abilities can be evaluated and documented by

partnering with educators to integrate industry skill standards in curriculum
working together to develop and/or implement activities that train students for current business needs
jointly recognizing students trained in those skills
endorsing Marketing Education/DECA program that effectively train students in skill standards

The Goal

By working directly with Marketing Education/DECA, the educational program preparing students in career skills, the business community can influence the training students receive and shape the work force of the future.
