Michelle Walker

Director of Education

As director of education, Michelle Walker provides leadership in the areas of education outreach, advisor professional development, professional division recognition and advisor services. She also promotes DECA’s co-curricular teaching and learning methodology to major constituency groups at education forums and conferences and manages DECA’s Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) initiatives.

Prior to joining the staff at DECA, Michelle was an associate professor and program coordinator within the Applied Technology, Training and Development program at the University of North Texas. Here she developed distance education courses, secured over two million dollars in federal grants, advised and mentored undergraduate and doctoral degree students, oversaw the program’s rotation and schedule of courses, promoted faculty-student communication and coordinated the certification and professional development of business and marketing education teachers throughout the state.

A former marketing education teacher and DECA advisor, Michelle earned her doctor of philosophy and master’s of education degrees from the University of North Texas and her bachelor’s of science in fashion merchandising from Texas Woman’s University.
