Shane Thomas

Shane Thomas is DECA Inc.’s director of competitive events. He works to advance the educational connection of DECA’s competitive events program to classroom curriculum at both the high school and collegiate levels to provide authentic learning experiences. Shane’s responsibilities include competitive event development, corporate partner projects, school-based enterprises and judge recruitment for the International Career Development Conferences.

Prior to joining DECA Inc., Shane taught marketing education courses in Fairfax County, Virginia, for six years. During that time, he increased chapter membership at Chantilly High School from 25 members to 300 members, collaborated with local business partners to create authentic learning experiences for his students, and assisted with curriculum writing at the local and state level. Shane also served on the Virginia DECA Board of Trustees and as director of facilities at Virginia DECA’s association leadership conferences.

A native of Virginia, Shane earned a bachelor’s of science degree in marketing education from Virginia Tech and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business and marketing education from Ball State University.
