The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) is one of DECA’s most important business partners and has served on the National Advisory Board since 2008.

Together, NAAEI and DECA have worked to:

• Develop the next generation’s workforce in the apartment industry by showcasing the dynamic careers the industry has to offer DECA students.
• Promote the partnership with NAAEI, and its members’ brands, products and services, as dynamic learning opportunities that support classroom teaching, student achievement and overall college and career readiness.

NAAEI would like DECA members and advisors to know that:

• The apartment industry is a growing and exciting career path for high school and college students:
• One third of U.S. households are renter households. In 2007, the number of renter households grew by almost 1 million.
• The number of U.S. apartment homes is estimated to be 35.2 million. Between 2000 and 2007, approximately 2.4 million new apartment homes were completed.

The average onsite apartment management team:

• Operates an apartment community with 264 apartment homes;
• Is composed of six management, maintenance and leasing professionals;
• Develops and executes an annual budget of $2.87 million; and
• Maintains a real estate asset valued at $21.3 million.
