Collegiate DECA Conferences

Conferences are an important part of the year, integrating skills learned in the classroom into real world experiences. We provide our members opportunities for both personal and professional growth through leadership development, community involvement and competitive events. Our conferences provide members unique access to internships, scholarships, and professional networking.

Collegiate Leadership Academy

Collegiate DECA members, members of other college organizations or any college student looking to enhance their leadership skills are invited to attend the Collegiate Leadership Academy (CLA). Sponsored by Collegiate DECA, the CLA is held each fall in New York City. This year it will be held from November 17-19, 2011*.

*This does not necessarily include travel dates.

Competitive event conferences are offered in the spring, hosted by many state/provincial associations. At these conferences student members compete to earn the right to attend the International Career Development Conference. 2012 NE Regional Conference

Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island would like to invite your chapter to compete in the NE Regional DECA Conference on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 8:30am-4:00pm. This year's conference includes 3 leadership workshop tracks in the morning and 20 competitive event categories offered throughout the day at the Harborside Campus. Cost is $15 per person.

There will be over 140 competitors from 10 regional colleges and industry guest judges. Activities include a *Mission Impossible* Scavenger Hunt the night before, on premises movie and Karaoke at the competition, and an all inclusive lunch and awards ceremony in this package deal.

International Career Development Conference

Nearly 2,000 students, advisors, alumni and business professionals gather for several days of networking, leadership development and competition. Teams from colleges and universities throughout North America showcase the skills they have acquired in the classroom through Competitive Events, National Management Institute, Culinary Management Institute, and the Entrepreneurship Challenge. The top teams and individuals are recognized for their outstanding achievements.

The 2012 International Career Development Conference will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah from April 21-24, 2012. (This does not necessarily include travel dates.)

Students also participate in one of four Professional Development Academies, including panel discussions, business and industry career seminars, and professional networking.
