Micah Melling's May Blog

2011-05-12
Actor Jim Carrey once said, “Life opens up opportunities to you, and you either take them or you stay afraid of taking them.” I have been given the incredible opportunity to serve as your Central Region Vice President, and I can promise I will make the most of this opportunity. You have my word I will do everything I can to serve DECA to the best of my abilities.

Although I cannot possibly thank everyone who helped me get to this point, there are a few people I would like to recognize. I would like to first thank my campaign manager, Lindsey Ralls. Lindsey, you did an amazing job at ICDC. I couldn’t have accomplished this feat without you! I would next like to thank my chapter advisor. Mrs. Allred, your support and encouragement always kept me motivated and focused on my goals. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me over the past four years. I also want to thank Julia Pitlyk and Isaac Robinson III for all of their advice and encouragement. Finally, I would like to thank my mom. Mom, you are the most amazing person I know. Having you at ICDC and sharing this experience made the conference worthwhile.

However, my biggest thanks goes out to DECA’s entire Central Region. I cannot express how excited and humbled I am for receiving this opportunity. I am extremely appreciative for your faith in me and will not waste a moment of this opportunity.

My first two projects as CRVP consist of increasing the membership of Central Region DECA’s Facebook Page and creating a Twitter Account for Central Region DECA. If you haven’t already, please “like” Central Region DECA on Facebook. The Twitter Account (@DECA_CR) will be available shortly. If you have a Twitter, please follow this account! If you don’t have a Twitter, I encourage you to create one and follow Central Region DECA! Everyone is also more than welcome to personally connect with me on Facebook and Twitter (@MJMelling).

If I can ever help you with anything, I will be more than happy to do so. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with requests, concerns, or questions. I am always willing to talk about DECA!

DECA Wishes,

Micah Melling
Central Region Vice President
