Nate's April Blog

2011-04-11
March was probably the busiest month I have had during my term by far. After coming back to school from the Pennsylvania State Career Development Conference, I had two more conferences that I was invited to attend. The next conference was the Maine State CDC. I was very excited to visit Maine, as it was one of the only states I have never been too. And what an experience it was! I had such a great time working with the Maine State Action Team and meeting over 200 members from Maine DECA. I loved the fact I got to meet people on a personal level. It was such a great time in Portland.

Straight from Maine, I headed to Boston for the Massachusetts State Career Development Conference. And that also was a great conference for many different reasons. I was very excited to work with the Mass DECA State Action Team. They were a great bunch of officers and it was my pleasure to work with them. Massachusetts DECA also was one of the most spirited DECA associations I ever have ever seen. There was constant cheering, applauding, and rooting for their chapter members. It was a hard choice for Mass DECA to choose the chapter that would receive the Most Spirited Award.

After my exciting CDC trips, I came back to JWU to start the last trimester of my freshmen year. I can hardly believe that this year has flown by so fast. As I write my last blog for my term as North Atlantic Region Vice President, I look back at my year and remember all the experiences, people and friends I have met. It has truly been one of the best and most memorable years in my life. I don’t think I could have asked for a better time to be a national officer for DECA. With the growth of the DECA Facebook, an increase of membership (the highest ever!), and a whole new brand to promote, I truly felt that I accomplished the goal of expanding my network with the DECA members, the community, the states and provinces, and the world. I cannot thank you all enough for allowing me to have this position and giving me the year that I did. Thank you all so much.

Also, this year has been great for another major reason. Being on Team 65 has given me a brand new family of friends. Each member has become so close to me and will always be with me. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for me and for being there for me. It has been so awesome working with them. Also, working with Mrs. Henn, our advisor, has made my year great as well. She has been my DECA mom and I will always think of her as that. So as I finish writing my blog, I cannot believe it is only 23 days until the ICDC. I cannot believe my time in office is coming to an end. I cannot believe the ride I have had and that my DECA journey is finally complete.

I cannot wait for the ICDC. I hope to see you all in Orlando and don’t forget to join Team Nate! ☺

So for one last time, stay safe, have fun and be well.
