Hello DECA!
I have been having great experiences since my last post. I recently attended VISION 2010 the Central Region Leadership Conference, The Ultimate DECA Power Trip, and worked with THE Ohio State Officers. Now I’m on my way to the DECA New York Experience, which is making out to be a fantastic conference!
I guess I’ll start with the two regional conferences that I had the pleasure of attending. In D.C. I was joined by the gentlemen on Team 65 and 2,300 excited members and advisors where we really got to know the Nation’s Capitol and see it through an entirely different lens with DECA. After I spent a week at home. I had the honor to go to the Central Region Leadership Conference - VISION 2010 in Chicago! I was very excited to go back to my home region and meet so many new people while seeing old faces that have been with me since I went to my first Central Region in Indianapolis, IN.
After I finished in Chicago I flew straight to Columbus, Ohio to work with their newly elected state officers! They are a very fun and motivated bunch under the reign of Mr. Price and Mr. Finke, I have high hopes for them as they begin their terms.
In the little time I am at home, I have been progressing on all of my college and scholarship applications for next year. With application deadlines coming up it makes me think about where I was at, at this point last year. It is crazy to think about how much you can do in a year and how fast it all goes. Thank you again to everyone who helped me to get this far, especially my campaign manager, Julia Kerrigan, H.S. Advisor, Laurie Fraser, NE State Advisor, Nicole Coffey, Team 53 and coordinators Tyler Gassaway and Lindsey Kaiser!
I think that is all I have for you this month, have a good day! Be sure to follow DECA on facebook and add me as a friend!
Sincerely,
Kurtis Conkel
