Nate's December Blog

2010-12-15
This last month has been quite the rush from college to DECA. November began preparing for The Ultimate DECA Power Trip. During my 4-day stay in Washington, I had the pleasure to meet members from 3 different regions! It was such a great experience leading members, officers and advisers in a 3-day conference packed with so many exciting workshops, speeches and sights. Some of the best experiences have been from spending time in the nation’s capital.

Leaving the Power Trip, I came back to JWU and went straight into finals mode. I had to take four finals in 2 days. But I gave myself enough time to make sure I was fully prepared for them all. And it paid off, as I ended the trimester with a 3.9 GPA! After the finals, I got to take time off and enjoy the Thanksgiving with friends and family. It was very exciting see everyone from my best friends to my chapter adviser during my break. It was the first time being home since I started back in September. It was so great getting to catch up with everyone in my life. I cannot wait to do the same during Christmas break.

After Thanksgiving, I headed back to Providence to start a new trimester and a brand new set of 4 classes. As classes started, I was very excited to have a brand new professors and new subjects that range from Customer Service Management to Sports/Entertainment Facility Operations. But I soon turned back into DECA mode as I headed to the Big Apple for the New York Experience. This was probably one of my favorite DECA experiences in my career. I got to spend 5 days with our National President, Kurtis Conkel, in leading DECA chapters to various workshops and exploring all New York has to offer. Kurtis and I truly had a New York Experience by pretty much doing everything one can imagine in NYC. From exploring the downtown financial district and ground zero to Midtown and Times Square and uptown at Central Park, we covered so much ground in so little time. During our experience, we met actor Paul Rudd (so exciting) and saw Mary Poppins, the Rockettes, and the Lion King on Broadway. It was sad to leave but it is an experience I will never forget.

As we head to the holiday season, I wish the best for all the members, officers and advisers in DECA! Enjoy this time to spend time with friends and family and make memories that will last a lifetime. If you have time in your schedules, you can always start be preparing for DECA as regional and state/provincial conferences will be commencing in January and February.

I wish happy holidays to everyone and I hope to hear from you guys soon. As always, feel free to contact me for anything you need help or would like to share. I love hearing from you guys.

Stay safe, have fun and be well.
