Josh's November Blog

2010-11-28

Wow, what a month! November was extremely busy for me between the Collegiate Leadership Academy and then packing up from National Headquarters and moving back home to Texas.

Though I’ve been a part of this organization for what seems like forever (seven years now), I had never taken part in either the New York Experience or the Collegiate Leadership Academy. After experiencing CLA just a few weeks ago, I regret not going in my previous 3 years of Collegiate DECA. Between meeting students and advisors from 41 different chapters, interacting with top industry executives, and spending time with some of the best leaders I know, the Collegiate Leadership Academy will go down as one of my favorite experiences from my time in DECA/Collegiate DECA.

As some of you may know, I moved to Reston, Virginia to intern at the National DECA Headquarters for the past six months. What I didn’t realize when I left my humble abode down south, was the amount of work that went into not only the conferences but the day-to-day operations of DECA Inc. I’ve got to say, we have some pretty amazing staff in our organization and I can’t say enough to how thankful I am for the time and effort that they put in, not to mention they’re a blast to work with too! There are truly some unsung heroes in the office and to them I say “Championship!”
