October has been an exciting month for me for both DECA and JWU. For DECA, I had an exciting opportunity to attend two DECA conferences this month. The first was a DECA Week Festival at Danbury High School in Connecticut. There I got to reconnect with the chapter officers I had met at the SOLT conference in DC. I had the pleasure to help them out as they put together festival activities for their chapter. I also got to participate in ice breaker activities with the entire chapter and “Expand my Network” with more members. It was such a great way to spend DECA Week.
The other exciting conference was the Rhode Island DECA Fall Leadership Conference in Warwick, RI. At this conference, I had the amazing opportunity to help RI DECA through a state officer election, DECA Quiz Bowl, and multiple workshops through the day. I also had the chance meet a lot of business officials and new members. Overall, I had a great day learning new concepts, and sharing information about DECA programs with many new and returning members.
As I am only half way through my term, I already have learned so much from my experience as a national officer. With all the conferences I have attended, I have learned that each one has its different lesson and experiences to go through. And with the ones I will be attending in the upcoming months, I know that there are many more experiences and lessons I will learn. I am excited with all the opportunities that still lay in front of me. I can’t wait for the next few months and all the people and friends I will be spending them with.
