Collegiate DECA's September Chapter Spotlight

Utah Valley University’s Woodbury School of Business Collegiate DECA club has been selected for the September Chapter Spotlight! The chapter has hit the ground running this year to capitalize on the new name of Collegiate DECA and the theme of ‘Expanding Your Network’. Taking full advantage of UVU’s success in becoming the largest school in Utah, with an enrollment of 33,200 students, the Collegiate DECA Chapter has their goals set high for 2010-11!

UVU Collegiate DECA held its first club rush for business students last month which was an amazing success! The chapter chose to hold its own club rush for business students as a separate event from the universal fair in order to provide a more professional image that is representative of Collegiate DECA.

The chapter holds high school competitions during January and February and at each event the Dean’s office provides lunch for the high school advisors. This year, a member of the National Advisory Board will speak to the group on the value of higher education and how each advisor can be a part of the solution. They have advisors and other organizations provide interactive booths for the high school students to attend between competitions.

In addition, the university opened a food pantry for low income students attending school and as a community service project, the UVU Collegiate DECA chapter decided to raise awareness and develop a marketing plan to collect food each week to support the university.

With everything UVU Collegiate DECA is doing, I’m positive they will be a Spotlight on their campus every month!
