School is just around the corner and I don’t know if I am looking forward to it or not. On the plus side, that means DECA will officially kick of the season and I will start attending conferences and making chapter visits. On the negative, that means my friends are all heading to college and I won’t get to see them for a while. Either way, this summer went by extremely fast and I am not ready for it to end.
This past month, I had the privilege to attend to outstanding conferences, both hosted by TRI Leadership. First, I went to Washington D.C. at George Washington University to attend Summer Officer Leadership Training. I met people from Tennessee, Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, and Michigan, just to name a few. I enjoyed meeting all these amazing people and I am really looking forward to see them once again. We had a great time at the Leadership Programs, out to dinner, or the amazing DC night tour with the crazy tour guide, if you were in my group. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to go back in the fall for the Ultimate DECA Power Trip.
Next, I went to Johnson and Wales University in Denver, Colorado to attend Western Region Officer Training Camp. I loved this conference because I finally got the chance to meet with the region to which I serve. I met State/Chapter Officers from Colorado, Oregon, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona. We had so much fun together and I know we all left with friends that we will stay in contact with. Other than meeting all the Western Region DECA members, my favorite thing was going to our amusement park, Elitches. I actually went on a ride that was sort of like a bungee jump with both Arizona and New Mexico DECA. In the 10 years that I have lived in Colorado, I have never worked enough courage to go on this ride; but with the support of both Arizona/New Mexico, I finally did it. This was the absolute best feeling in my life, and the 45-foot free fall takes your breath away. This was such an amazing conference of learning, developing new skills and bonding. I can’t wait to work with Western Region again.
