Defend Your Inner DECA

2013-02-06
Welcome to February and the month of Career and Technical Education advocacy! As a passionate DECA member, this is the perfect opportunity to share your own DECA story with the public officials in your community. I challenge you to make this experience memorable by crafting a concise and meaningful message to share your DECA story.

This can be accomplished with three easy steps. Create a presentation for your community’s public officials where your audience will “think, feel, and act.”
• As the meeting begins, get their attention with a powerful fact about DECA that encourages them to think about what you have to say.
• Present your information in a way that allows your audience to feel how important DECA is to your high school experience.
• Finally, close by encouraging them to act.

Remind your public officials that their vote counts when it comes to Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) and encourage them to attend an upcoming chapter event where they can see your DECA skills in action.

Just remember, it is through stories from members like you that will help our public policy makers understand the importance of CTSOs. So I challenge you to make your voice heard this month!
