As our long awaited summer break finally arrives, I want to congratulate all of you on another year well done - an academic year, a personal year, and an amazing DECA year! And as you start to soak up the rays and head out onto the water, I want you to keep this quote in mind... "Summer is filled with breaking rules and standing apart, ignoring your head and following your heart!"... I feel that this is something for all of you to keep in mind because summer is all about change and being who YOU want to be.

Now, please don’t go off and break any rules or anything; but go ahead and take the chance to stand apart from everyone else! Whether you are going off to college in the fall or just entering another year of your high school career, summer can be all about reinventing yourself to be the best possible person you can be. For example, build on those leadership skills that DECA has helped us to develop for a long time.

Also, go ahead and follow your heart! Get a new job that interests you. Go off on a fun-filled vacation. Simply take some time to relax. Because we all know that when school comes back to us in the fall, it will be time for hard work again. Academically prepare yourself for school and college; and with DECA perfect your events or try a totally new one.
