Asana: It Takes Teamwork to Make the Dream Work
2012-10-25
With any team, it’s pretty difficult to get things done when you’re not together. I remember struggling as a state officer in the beginning of my term because my teammates and I had trouble keeping in contact with each other. I figured that the solution was simply to check my email often and utilize my planner, but this past month I discovered an even better solution.
I was introduced to a web and mobile task management application designed to improve the way teams communicate and collaborate. Asana stands apart from other organizational tools (what in the marketplace are called task management applications) because it aligns everyone’s energy toward a common goal and breaks down the efforts into parts. For each team you’re a part of, you have access to an online workspace in which your teammates can identify projects and tasks for each of those projects. The important thing to remember about Asana is that it’s not just a checklist of your activities; Asana allows you to break down ambitious goals into component parts and then assign each one to a team member.
The national officer team recently started using Asana, and it’s helping us stay on track with our goals and move forward with our program of work. If your chapter or association officer team is looking for a more efficient way to work together, we encourage you to try Asana! It might sound difficult, but in reality it’s a simple application to use.
