Advocacy - A Must for the Future of CTSOs like DECA

2012-02-21

Last Wednesday, I attended the Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Legislative Day in Jefferson City, MO. Reaching out to legislators has been one of my major focuses as a National Officer, so I was thrilled to have this opportunity. I was pleased to be joined in Jefferson City with dozens of Missouri DECA members. Together, we worked to increase awareness about the importance of DECA and Marketing Education.

In early March, I will attend ACTE’s National Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C. At this seminar, I will meet with members of Congress, learn new advocacy skills, and listen to speeches by leaders in education. I’m excited to have these opportunities and to spread the word about our incredible organization!

I’ve created several political outreach resources that can be accessed on www.slideshare.net/decainc. If I can assist you with reaching out to legislators, please contact me. My email address is decavpmicah@gmail.com.

To preserve a bright future for Marketing Education and DECA, we must get involved in the political scene and make our voices heard. I hope you will join DECA in working to increase legislators’ knowledge of our organization.

DECA Wishes,

Micah Melling
