Taking Advantage of Inspiring Moments

Attending Tennessee’s Fall Leadership Camp last year had a huge impact on where I am today. At that camp I was lucky enough to meet Kurtis Conkel and see the 2010-2011 National DECA President in action. His enthusiasm along with the enthusiasm of the Tennessee State DECA Officers inspired me to take my involvement in DECA to new heights. After that conference, I was aspiring higher.

This past weekend I was able to attend this Leadership Camp once more. This time I was not attending as a chapter member, but at the National DECA President. It blew my mind. That Camp inspired me last year, and now I had the opportunity to inspire others. It just goes to show that DECA really is what you make of it. If I hadn’t taken the initiative to attend that camp in 2010, I may have never been motivated to run for National Office. We all have events in our life that move us enough to push forward and aspire higher. I encourage all of you to search for those opportunities. Attend as many DECA events as you can, and hopefully you, too, will be inspired to aspire higher.
