Tricks for Achieving your Goals

2011-10-24

Every path to success has obstacles. These obstacles could be thrown at you without notice or could be creations that you build for yourself. The trick to achieving success is to know that in every moment you can fail but instead, choosing to fight against it.

Setting achieveable goals is the most effective way of setting up a plan to reach success. However, goals mean nothing if you don’t work your hardest to achieve them. Sometimes it seems easier to do minimal work and barely reach each one; but, instead, we should all strive to do 110% of each goal we set. Attempt to over-achieve and you will be surprised at what you can do. Choose mini rewards as incentives to reaching your goals and you will be more willing to reach them. Set aside one hour, or what you can give, of each day to spend working toward your goals to reach success. All of these sub-steps are what will encourage you to go above and beyond.

Eliminating distractions that pop up on the path to success is not easy. Friends want to hang out, your favorite show is on television but you have set aside the next hour to practice your DECA role play. What do you do? Your friends will understand that you have goals; they most likely have them too. You may even be an inspiration to them to work harder at their own path to success. The television show can be recorded or watched online, or will be replayed again. Avoid anything that takes you away from what you need to get done. Work your hardest for that one hour and you are one more step closer to achieving the success you are trying to reach.

“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.” – Mark Victor Hansen
