All The Small Things

2011-10-04

Late night, come home,

Work sucks, I know...-All the Small Things; Blink 182

How many of you are juggling school and working either either part time or full time right now? How many of you are working at a job that you KNOW you will not want to do forever? How many of you are working at a job that you can't stand but have to stay at to pay the bills? Who would have thought that a song by American Pop band Blink-182 would know exactly what we are all thinking when we come home from a late night of work?

Hang in there, it won't be forever. Like many college students, I work, go to school, and try to keep my head above water. I think positive because I know I will not always be working this hourly-paying job forever and that someday, my hard work in school will pay off. Why am I so confident that I will someday obtain the job I dream of? It's because I am an active member in Collegiate DECA!

Collegiate DECA is my resume booster. It's what's going to put me ahead of all the other students in my career. When I go out for job interviews, I am prepared because of all the hours of practices and competitions I have been through; I will shine in front of my potential employer. I know that all of us want a career with meaning; we want a job where we feel we make a difference. When you graduate from college with hands-on experience earned from participating in DECA, you nail that interview for your dream job. When you are sitting back in that big, comfy office chair, reflecting back on that hourly-paying job and how far you have come, those days will be behind you. Over time, all the small things that you worked toward have payed off! You took the time to better your college experience; you put in the hard work and dedication in Collegiate DECA and now it's time to enjoy your dream job
