"Take a stand and lead," says SRVP Kendra Wrightson

2011-08-24

The school year is getting close and unfortunately our summer is coming to an end. Whether you stayed home or visited someplace new, I hope that your summer was one to remember! Before the school year emerges, Team 66 encourages you to strive for perfection through your studies. Taking pride in your studies will strengthen your knowledge and help you promote our organization. As a DECA member, it is your job to take a stand and lead others around you. By having a positive outlook toward this upcoming school year, you can encourage others to feel positively as well. With your positive attitude in mind, brainstorm ways in which you can promote DECA throughout your school. You can do something as simple as talking about it in the hallways or as dramatic as making posters and handing out flyers. Just remember that any action you perform promoting DECA benefits you and your school.

Your National Officer Team has been extremely busy throughout the summer. Our first meeting was at DECA Headquarters in Reston, Virginia where we planned out things such as our Program of Work and workshops for you to enjoy. As the team attended the Summer Officer Leadership Conference in Washington D.C., we visited with many exciting state officers and members. We encourage you to Aspire Higher and interact with other officers and DECA members throughout this year. If you have any questions or want to learn some of the concepts taught in Washington feel free to contact us! One of our goals this year is communication, which solely relys on you. So get involved and get connected because this year DECA is planning to truly Aspire Higher in all aspects of this organization!
